A Message From Us

The story of how Small Efforts began — and why we continue this journey today.

Mohammad Yusuf Ali Organizer, Small Efforts

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah.

"Small Efforts" is the culmination of years of dedicated, incremental work. My journey began in the ninth grade when I started tutoring students. Over time, I earned the affection and trust of many of my students, and together, we began engaging in community service. Whenever local roads were damaged or flooded during heavy rains, making commuting difficult, my students and I would gather on afternoons or holidays to fill the potholes using bricks, stones, and soil. When rainwater stagnated, we used shovels to clear drainage pathways and restore access. We also collaborated to maintain cleanliness in our respective neighborhoods, collected textbooks and stationery for underprivileged students at the end of the academic year, and arranged medical care and medications for those who fell ill. In the winter, we collected warm clothes from our local community and distributed them among those in need. Whenever floods struck neighboring areas, we also gathered and distributed relief supplies. Alhamdulillah.

During my university years, I regularly donated blood and encouraged my peers to join blood donation drives. Additionally, assisting neighbors during large family gatherings or weddings by serving guests and managing clean-up efforts became a routine part of our service. By the grace of Almighty Allah, I had the privilege of leading and participating in many such initiatives.

Continuing this journey, Almighty Allah enabled us to build a local mosque and extend support to numerous orphans and underprivileged families — Alhamdulillah. He has further smoothed our path, allowing us to expand our reach even further. In 2022, we launched programs dedicated to spreading Islamic education and teaching the Arabic language. Furthermore, with the encouragement and financial backing of generous donors both locally and internationally, we have successfully installed deep tube wells for safe drinking water and ablution facilities across several mosques and madrasas.

At this juncture, I would like to respectfully acknowledge the invaluable contributions of Dr. Mohammad Khan, owner of Halal Australia and founder of the Masihul Azam Khan Foundation. The projects featured on this website have been made possible largely through his financial support and constant encouragement, alongside contributions from several anonymous donors.

We strongly encourage you to strengthen religious education initiatives and increase support for underprivileged relatives and neighbors in your respective communities. We are eager to assist you in these endeavors; please feel free to reach out to us if needed.

Thank you.

Small Efforts exists because of the generosity of people who believed in this mission before the results were visible.
